When thinking about the pinstripe suit, what comes to your mind? Often, probably, it is associated with alpha male bankers who are trying too hard from the 80s’ :). However, in the last years the image of the pinstripe suits changed and they are becoming more and more adapted by many stylish folks out there. And no wonder. This classic piece might not be your day-to-day garment, but for sure is the garment that makes the statement, looks damn good and exudes confidence.

In my opinion, to bring the best qualities of this classic garment two components need to be ensured. First, of course,  the proper fit. And second, would be the proper mix of the classic and the modern elements.

With the outfit that I am presenting today I wanted to achieve exactly that mix – that classic more dominant look on one hand, but also to ease it down a little on the other. You can say to merge both the classic and the contemporary. To achieve the first, I chose the double-breasted navy suit with peak lapels and wider, more set apart pinstripes. Additionally, the suit pants are cuffed for that more old school look. All this helps to make the statement and to bring out that dominant part of the outfit. On the other hand, I wanted to bring some contemporary vibe to my outfit. To achieve this, I chose the suit with softer structure and silhouette. Specifically, slim fit, no lining, softer shoulders and some casual component, like patch pockets.

Also you want the suit with good fabrics. The one I am wearing is made of the light wool by Vitale Barberis Canonico.

The same with accessories and shoes. I paired the suit with pretty loud blue paisley tie in order to bring that confidence and dominance, while, as for footwear, I chose to go with pretty casual suede tassel loafers and sockless.

By the way, in my opinion, when wearing pinstripe suit, the shirt should be either white or light blue and as simple as possible. No additional attention is needed anyway.

So here you go. Mixture of classic and contemporary, formal and more casual. Hope you like it.

Truthfully yours,

Vlad
