While earth tone colors might be considered to be more suitable for fall, I personally like to wear and combine those in summer as well. In my opinion, they are a great alternative to consider for summer. An earth tone color scheme is made up of browns, tans, warm grays, and greens. All of them are a great opportunity to experiment and to achieve a classy, gently relaxed look. The key here, in my opinion, is to balance color contrasts properly and try to stick to lighter colors for your bottoms.

An example, you can see in my today’s post. I am mixing the khaki green with different shades of browns. But let me explain my choices step by step.

As for the top I am wearing this collarless khaki green cotton shirt. While the choice of the shirt might be straightforward, there are some elements I would like to highlight. First is the absence of collar. This obviously is more relaxed casual choice, but the lack of collar is actually very comfortable for the summer (especially with temperatures above +30 C), plus also something different from regular shirts. Another element is the white line combined with green and blue stripes along the inside of the shirt buttons, which is something different and a fun detail of the shirt. Third element is the color itself. Just classic khaki, where you cannot go wrong, but looks good on everyone.

For the bottoms, I wear linen/cotton mix pants in light brown. As mentioned before, to make earth tones work in summer you need the proper contrast. My opinion here is that it is better to have the light contrast for the pants. This makes the outfit lighter and summery. This very light brown tone and the fabric itself seem to work perfectly. You might know that I like to mix the classic with modern. Same here. Where the shirt is more modern and casual, the pants are in more classic cut – high waist, with pleads and cuffs. All those details give a bit more classic and refined look. See also details like side adjusters and small side pocket.

Finishing with my favorite summer footwear – tassel suede loafers. Of course sockless.

I would encourage you to try to combine earth tones in summer. This is something different and is a nice alternative.

Truthfully yours

Vlad
