Hello guys,
In my humble opinion, one of the most versatile pieces in the men’s wardrobe is a well fitted blazer. Period. You can wear with almost everything, dress it up or down, and it makes you look better in every situation. If you would ask me what kind of blazer should be your first choice, I would go with a navy one. For spring / summer season I would encourage to get also a light blue version.
While choosing the right blazer, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the variety of choices out there – different fabrics, patterns, colors, lapel styles, pocket styles, construction of the blazer, etc.
However, I don’t like to over-complicate things. There are couple of rules I try to stick to to make my choice easier.
First and foremost, it is important to know the purpose. When choosing the clothing item for my wardrobe I aim for as much versatility as possible, thus possibility to wear it in different situations. In my opinion, unstructured, more casual blazer is more versatile over the classical business ones. Also, unstructured blazers are more comfortable to wear and are more suitable for warmer seasons.
Then I would go with simple styles. I tend to choose plain colored blazers with notch lapels. This ensures a lot of versatility and also ensures that the blazer will be in style for many years to come. As for fabrics I would go with cotton or cotton/linen mix for warmer seasons or heavier cotton or wool for more colder ones.
Lets talk now how I would wear the light blue blazer.
In this specific combination, my aim was to make it stand out. While wearing the light blue blazer, I think, this is also what you want to achieve. To ensure that, it is important to add the contrast with the rest of your items and to keep them in tonal colors. In this example, I am not only wearing navy blue trousers to add the contrast, but also added the navy blue cardigan on the top. With that my light blue blazer really stands out.
To finish the look I also added some accessories, like dark brown tie and pocket square, also in darker tones.
Please enjoy the pictures below for some inspiration!
Truthfully yours,
Vlad
