One of great and easy way to wear outfits is to stick to monochromatic pieces, meaning wearing different shades and patterns of the same color.

Wearing monochromatic outfit has many advantages in my opinion. First, you can stick to different shades of one color, which for many guys is a big relief. You don’t need to think to match different colors, what goes with what etc. – certainly saves time and energy. Secondly, it looks very clean, well put together and adds a lot of sophistication to the overall look (in my opinion). Thirdly, there are opinions that dressing monochromatically can make you appear taller and slimmer, because the outfit is creating one seamless line from head to toe. Finally, it works with every favorite color you might choose.

While it certainly takes less time and effort to put this outfit together, there are some tips to remember before pulling this one off.

When going with this look, it is important to choose the color, which matches you well, looks good against your skin tone and you feel comfortable in. If you are new to monochromatic outfits and not sure what color to begin with, start with dark neutrals, like black, navy, gray, and brown.

Than it is important to ensure that different shades match to each other. Meaning ensuring the proper contrast of different shades in an outfit. Wearing everything in the same color shade would be a little bit odd, in my opinion. So playing with different shades of light and dark tones would ensure the proper balance to the look.

For my outfit today I am wearing different shades of blue, which is my favorite color, which also works great against my skin tone (I have cool skin tone). I started with very simple foundation – navy pants and light blue shirt. Not to be too business like I chose this beautiful pastel light blue blazer. Its’ specific color, light structure (no lining – fully unstructured) and casual elements (like for example patch pockets) are bringing easygoing vibe to the whole look. Definitely the key item of the total outfit. Then also, the colors contrast very nicely. Navy blue at the bottom, light blue at the top and shirt creating a nice transition in-between. To bring some more elements and patterns, I also chose to wear this check patterned tie. I like the big checks, which bring some vintage vibe to the tie. Finally, also adding very simple pocket square in darker shades of blue. As for footwear, I wanted to keep the focus on the outfit and went with simple dark brown tassel loafers.

Hope you enjoy it!

Truthfully yours,

Vlad
