One of my favorite wardrobe essentials for late spring / and especially summer season is the linen suit. It is cool, comfortable and exudes relaxed attitude. Also, it is much more versatile as many might think and offers quite a lot of styling possibilities. One thing to watch out is, because of its very light texture, it wrinkles quite easily. But this does not scare me off.

Today’s outfit is one of the examples how I wear it and hopefully will provide you with some inspiration as well. Below I list some of my personal watch outs if you consider acquiring one.

First and foremost I ensure the proper fit. The shoulders of the jacket should fit the body perfectly and the jacket needs to be trim, not boxy through the waist. Pants ideally to have no break at the hem and the waistband to be snug without being suffocating. You would be right saying that this applies to every other suit as well. With the linen suit, however, you really need to watch out for those details to avoid looking like an old man in a sack 😉

Then the right combination. Styling it in a modern way will ensure the proper attitude. I like to pair the suit with a casual shirt or a t-shirt to emphasize the casual nature of the outfit. As in my example, I paired the suit with simple white t-shirt.

Then the right footwear and, please, sockless (or invisible ones). I prefer to wear loafers, as their casual vibe matches perfectly to the relaxed look of the suit.

Also, please remember, linen suit is meant to be worn during warmer or even hot days, so I try to ensure to wear it in the appropriate occasions too.

All in all, I would highly recommend for every modern gentleman to own at least one linen suit 🙂

Please enjoy the pictures below.

Truthfully yours,

Vlad
