1 year blog anniversary – reflection and outlook

Long time I have not posted any entries on my blog. I will try to be more regular in future and create some interesting content. Nevertheless, today is a very special day for me – 1-year anniversary for this blog.

At this point, I also would like to thank all the people that follow my passion either through this blog or my instagram account! You are the main reason I do this thing and you are the key motivator for me to continue. Thus big thank you to all of you for staying with me, supporting me and sharing my passion!

Independent of what you do in life, if you start some new project or new chapter in your life, achieving specific personal or professional milestones is always important component in whatever you do to succeed. It is also a good opportunity to self-reflect and to see what has been accomplished so far, what you’ve learnt and where you can improve. With this post, I would like to self-reflect a little bit on what I have accomplished but more importantly, what I learned and discovered during this 1 year.

Starting this blog a year ago, I didn’t have much expectations or ambitious goals. My main goal was and still remains to share my passion around menswear with the same passionate people as myself. What I did not expect to happen is to discover so much about my personal style, refine it and to get to know all the great companies and people around menswear.

Personal style is always kind of journey and constant evolution. The more time and effort you put into it the more effortless and refined it becomes. Where I might have improved it here and there, I discovered that there is still so much to learn and to improve as never before. But I see it a good thing as this showed also all different possibilities and ways to improve my style, which I never considered before. Biggest discovery most probably was to start exploring all the various made to measure and bespoke opportunities out there. Other discovery for me was the world around soft tailoring; the artisanship that goes into that and how comfortable tailored clothing could be (at the same time looking super sharp and refined). Another one was to see how details and specifically those around the fit of the garment can matter. Getting more knowledge and experience around this topic, showed how small details make a significant change in overall appearance, which I would have never considered before. Finally the realization I always somehow knew about and tried to live but this year have put even stronger emphasis, was to realize that good quality garments are investments. If invested properly it will serve for many years. Thus, the realization that you need to put some thought into what wardrobe you want to create, which pieces you need before buying or commissioning any garments.

However, what I appreciate the most are all the passionate people and companies I got to know in the past year. This is probably the biggest accomplishment for me personally. Being surrounded by big and known brands in the past, it was an eye opener how many great companies with great and high quality products are out there. In addition, the people that stand behind those brands. Mostly, those are passionate style enthusiasts, putting so much effort and personal time into the product, which you see very rarely nowadays. Thus, I am very lucky and grateful to got to know some of them in this past year.

This brings me to my next point. With all those discoveries and experience, I feel like it is fair to share it with more people. Especially to introduce all the artisans and smaller brands (and of course people behind) to the wider audience. Therefore, I decided to introduce the new category here, where I will start to introduce some of those companies, give a little bit background around them, my personal experience, etc.

With all that being said, I am looking forward to the next years to come and to more content to be shared.
